What is the Health Pod?

The Health Pod is a secure computer system which enables patients without clinical supervision to perform their own checks such as blood pressure, weight, pulse, alcohol consumption which are instantaneously updated onto your patient record. The results can be viewed immediately, and any results out of range will be flagged to the GP. Please note that this is not a replacement for your Doctor or Nurse, but an addition to the practice.

Why do we have the Health Pod and why should you use it?

The Health  Pod maximises the time spent with your GP as all routine questions and measurements will be available in advance of your appointment. Patients can take control over their own health and track progress through using the Health Pod.

When should patients use the Health Pod?

No appointments are needed to use the Health Pod. This allows flexibility for patients to utilise at their convenience. We would recommend using the Health Pod prior to your appointment to maximise discussion time with the GP.

What can you do on the Health Pod?

• Take your blood pressure
• Take your weight and calculate your BMI
• Enter information regarding your lifestyle, e.g. smoking status, alcohol consumption, diet and exercise.

The Health Pod is simple and easy to use but if you have difficulty, please speak to a member of staff. For any results out of range, the GP will be notified and you will be instructed to book an appointment – please note, this appointment does not need to be the same day as using the Pod.
