Lung Cancer Screening Programme
Posted on August 12th, 2025
Our practice is participating in the Lung Cancer Screening Programme, which is targeted at ever-smokers aged 55-74. Here are some key points about the programme:
- Voluntary Check: The Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) is a voluntary check on lung health aimed at identifying individuals at higher risk of cancer.
- Clear Plan: There is a clear plan in place for addressing any findings that appear on the scan.
- Early Detection: Finding lung cancer early is beneficial on every measure, improving treatment outcomes and survival rates.
- Contact Information: The invitation sent out includes a contact number for any queries you may have.
- Screening Outcomes: Of those who attend a lung check, about half are offered a CT scan. Approximately 1.25% of these scans reveal lung cancer, usually at an early stage.
If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to reach out using the contact details provided in your invitation.
